Also, played Final Fantasy XIII about halfway through and gave it back to my cousin I was borrowing it from, but I just bought it for like $25 from some company that is fulfilled by Amazon.  Let the completing commence!

So apparently, the most notorious game in long winded development will not die:  apparently it’s rumored that Gearbox Software will be taking over the rains on the oft-ridiculed Duke Nukem Forever. When I see more Duke news, I constantly think “Man, Duke 3D was awesome, but do the same jokes and pranks and gameplay still fly in this day and age?”  The answer is…. maybe.  While most people want this game to die finally or come out so it can be given a bad review and forgotten, I think there are a few more points to look at here.  First, the game was looking pretty spectacular and fun at a few points in it’s development.  If this could somehow be channeled into a finished product, I’m sure you can squeeze some good times out of it.  The content doesn’t really bother me, it’s going to be the gameplay;  if something new and fresh and polished game-play wise manages it’s way into this product, it could be a winner.  Enter Gearbox.  Borderlands was pretty sweet, but it didn’t have the right feel a Duke Nukem game would have.  But after seeing what Gearbox has done over the years, I feel if anyone can finish this game off on a strong note, they can.  So we wait and observe, not getting our hopes up…. watching from the shadows..

Also, I won’t complain this time how I’ve been busy and haven’t been posting, I’ve been incredibly ineffective with my time.

I’m actually a huge fan of the Amazon Gold Box Deals.  But WOW, looking into the chest of wonders today was like expecting to find a hookshot and getting one fucking rupee.  It was probably Tingle who swapped em out, that bastard.  Ok, let’s see what we had in the ol box today….

6 AM – Singularity.  Oh Dear, ho hum shooter for what… $20.00 off?  You can’t buy me with that good sirs.  I think you’d need to be interested in the game way too much and the price would have to be about $10.00 cheaper.  Also, I’ve noticed a game isn’t ever that great when it’s review lands in the 70s and the users agree.  If a score of 50 is usually absolutely do NOT buy this game, then 70 is like… wait for the bargain bin.

9 AM – Red Dead Redemption.  Probably the only one worth it on this list.  $42 bucks isn’t TOO bad, but honestly if you haven’t played it yet, wait till it becomes a greatest hits title, drops to $30, and includes all the dlc.  Instead of paying through your nose, you get the whole experience for a lot cheaper.  If you wanted to play it when it was still fresh, you probably should have bought it when it came out.  Be patient sirs, be patient.

11 AM – Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands.  Go to Steam and buy the Prince of Persia Pack instead. Granted, it’s $20 more than this deal, but is this really a deal when all you’re getting is a box of broken promises and shattered dreams?  All of the previous games, from the Sands of Time series to the new Prince of Persia reboot awhile back are much better than this one.

12 PM – Street Fighter IV Fight Stick.  Well, it isn’t too terrible clocking in at $100.  It has quality parts, and will probably last awhile.  Problem is, it’s really REALLY big.  Also, I personally don’t like the style of the stick, I think this particular one is a 4-way, and I don’t like sticks that have the 4 corners stop your stick like a square, terrible for Hadoken type movements.

3 PM – Alpha Protocol.  Just stop it.  If you’ve “gotta” have this game, then you’re probably mentally unstable. Pass. Or don’t, and commit yourself to your nearest friendly neighborhood asylum.

4 PM – Splinter Cell Conviction. This is one I want to love but can’t.  The game is SOOO dumbed down from what it used to be, it’s hard to get into.  God knows you’ll always know what to do though, as the building you’re next to lights the fuck up with your next objective.  If you’ve played it, you know.

6 PM – Metro 2033.  This one hasn’t hit yet, but if you can add, you can figure it out from the description.  Maybe I’m expecting too much of people…  anyhoo, game looks all right, in the same vein as Stalker.  Good story and atmosphere, broken combat system.  Probably worth a look depending on price. 25 bucks, yes.  More than $25… wait for it.  It’s not super popular, it’ll come down.

9 PM – Assassins Creed 2?  Not 100% sure on this one, but sounds like it.  If it falls into the low $20s, get it.  If not, pass, it will drop eventually.

Oy, lot of crap, but a few… somewhat gems?  Disturbing trend lately of crap deals for videogames on the Gold Box.  Here’s hoping for a PS3 one next that doesn’t suck!  Though it probably will!
