Another Christmas, Another Steam Buying Spree

It’s been awhile… quickly skipping over that!

So Christmas has come and gone, and Steam has done another wondrous holiday sale.  Honestly, before Steam came along, I still got games via a digital download service, but it was a little different.  Honestly, if Steam wasn’t so streamlined and if Steam didn’t work so well, I wouldn’t have over 100 games purchased through the service; it’s amazing what one can do with a system of DRM that people actually like.  Either way, I wanted to support my friendly neighborhood game developers this season, especially since everything was super cheap.  Just got torchlight the day it ended, but I’ve yet to delve into it; the lady is over for the week, so some things are on pause as of now.

Interesting though, of all the games I purchased, I ended up playing one that ended up being a bastardization of the first groundbreaking title; Deus Ex Invisible War.  The game that literally gutted all the good things from it’s older, wiser brother.  It’s odd, I have a sense of nostalgia about that game (I was really excited when it was coming out, and picked it up on day one) but all I got out of it was an XL sized crappy t-shirt, with Alex D. gangster style on the front of it… sigh.  It’s odd because the story was actually quite good, and it was nice to see what happened to all of my favorite characters from the groundbreaking original.  Oh well, that’s the way it goes, I hope Deus Ex 3 doesn’t get screwed up.  At least if they make this game on console first, then port it, it’ll be coming from more capable hardware.  That way I can be spared the sloppy PC port!  Wheee!!  …. blergh.
